If you’ve ever looked at cannabis concentrates and thought “Wait… aren’t resin and rosin the same thing?” — you’re not alone. The names sound similar, but the way they’re made is completely different.

Live Resin

Live resin is made using a solvent-based extraction process. Producers use solvents like butane or propane to pull cannabinoids and terpenes from the plant material. It’s usually made from fresh frozen cannabis, which helps preserve the plant’s flavor and aroma profile.

Why people love it:
• Very flavorful and aromatic
• High terpene content
• Often more affordable than rosin
• Potent and widely available

Because of the extraction method, properly made live resin goes through a purging process to remove leftover solvents before it reaches consumers.

Live Rosin

Live rosin is made without chemical solvents at all. Instead, it’s created using only heat and pressure to squeeze oils and cannabinoids from hash or flower. This is why rosin is often called a solventless concentrate.

Why people love it:
• No solvents used in production
• Often considered a cleaner or more natural option
• Rich flavor and smooth experience
• Popular among concentrate connoisseurs

Rosin production is usually more labor-intensive, which is one reason it tends to cost more.

So which one is better?

Neither is automatically “better” — it really comes down to personal preference.

If you want:
🔥 Maximum flavor and strong terpene profiles → you may enjoy live resin
🌱 A solventless, heat-and-pressure extract → you may prefer live rosin

Easy way to remember it:

👉 Resin = solvents
👉 Rosin = pressure

No matter which you choose, quality matters most. A well-made resin or rosin can both deliver an amazing experience. 💨
