CBG 101: What Science Actually Knows About the “Mother Cannabinoid”

- Outdoor Grow

Anyone browsing a New Mexico dispensary menu lately has probably noticed CBG popping up alongside the usual THC and CBD numbers. Cannabigerol, or CBG, has earned the nickname “mother cannabinoid” because the plant produces it first, in the form of CBGA, before enzymes convert that precursor into THCA, CBDA, and the other acidic cannabinoids as the plant matures. By the time flower is fully developed, only a small fraction of CBGA is left, which is part of why CBG shows up in lower concentrations than THC or CBD in most mature cannabis strains. Despite the small quantities, CBG has drawn…
Coming Soon: Rosin Disposables

We’ve been working on a new way to enjoy our rosin in a convenient disposable format. So what happens to the rosin before it goes into the device? Decarboxylation is the key step. Raw cannabis rosin contains cannabinoids primarily in their acidic forms. Through controlled heating, those compounds undergo decarboxylation, converting them into their active forms. From there, the processed rosin is prepared for use in a cartridge/disposable system, where it can be heated by the device and vaporized for inhalation. These Rosin Bars from CCELL will be released in the coming weeks!
Caryophyllene: The Spicy, Peppery Terpene Behind Some of Your Favorite New Mexico Cannabis Strains

Walk into any New Mexico dispensary and you’ll notice cannabis smells different from strain to strain — citrusy, earthy, sweet, or sharply spicy. Those differences come down to terpenes, the aromatic compounds every cannabis plant produces, and they’re a big part of what makes New Mexico cannabis shoppers gravitate toward one strain over another. Today we’re spotlighting one of the more unusual terpenes out there: beta-caryophyllene. Caryophyllene is the terpene responsible for the peppery, almost clove-like bite you pick up in strains descended from OG Kush, Sour Diesel, or the Cookies family. It isn’t unique to cannabis — it’s the…
A Different Deal Every Day: This Week’s Specials at High Desert Relief
- Dispensaries

One of the easiest ways to save at a New Mexico dispensary is simply knowing what day it is. High Desert Relief runs a rotating lineup of daily specials across all six of our locations, so whether you’re shopping our Albuquerque stores on Coors, PanAm, or Alameda, or stopping into Santa Fe, Bernalillo, or Hobbs, there’s a fresh reason to swing by nearly every day of the week. Here’s the current rotation: Mondays bring 10% off Flight Bites, Tuesdays knock 10% off all edibles, and Wednesdays cut concentrates by 20% (vape cartridges and disposables excluded). Thursday flips that around with…
Indoor vs. Greenhouse: How High Desert Relief Grows Cannabis Two Different Ways
- Indoor Grow
- Outdoor Grow

Walk through any current High Desert Relief menu and you’ll notice flower grown two very different ways. Our indoor hydroponic facility and our WildFlower greenhouse operation both supply flower to our six New Mexico dispensary locations, but the methods behind each couldn’t be more different — and both have their own advantages for New Mexico cannabis shoppers. Our indoor grow runs on a hydroponic system fed with Athena nutrients, with plants rooted in Grodan rockwool cubes rather than soil. The rooms are lit with Mammoth LED fixtures and kept CO2 enriched, which lets us control light schedules, temperature, and humidity…
New Mexico Cannabis Sales Hit a Monthly Record in July

New Mexico’s legal cannabis market just posted its best month yet. According to reporting from The Marijuana Herald on data released by the New Mexico Cannabis Control Division, licensed retailers statewide sold nearly $50 million worth of product in July, including a new monthly record for adult-use sales. Combined medical and adult-use sales for 2026 have now reached roughly $335 million, part of an all-time market total north of $2.4 billion since legal sales began. The numbers reflect how far New Mexico cannabis has come in a short time. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed the Cannabis Regulation Act in April…
Myrcene 101: The Terpene Behind Cannabis’s Earthy Aroma

Walk into any New Mexico dispensary and you’ll notice flower doesn’t all smell the same — some jars lean citrusy, others piney, and a lot of them carry a deep, musky, almost mango-like earthiness. That last note is usually myrcene at work, and it’s typically the most abundant terpene found in cannabis. Terpenes are the aromatic compounds plants produce to attract pollinators and ward off pests, and cannabis makes dozens of them in the same trichomes that produce THC and CBD. Myrcene itself isn’t unique to cannabis — it’s also found in mangoes, hops, lemongrass, and thyme, which is part…
Live Resin Spotlight: Saint Limón, From Our Grow to the Jar
- Dispensaries
- Lab

Concentrates don’t always get the spotlight the way flower or gummies do, but this week one wax stood out across our dispensary menus: OE Live Resin Saint Limón, a hydroponically grown, indica-leaning hybrid that’s been a customer favorite at High Desert Relief. Saint Limón is a cross of Lemon Tree and Lemon Cherry Gelato, landing at roughly 60% indica, 40% sativa. It’s grown right here in New Mexico in our own indoor hydroponic facility, then processed into live resin in-house under our Outlaw Extracts brand. Live resin is made from flower that’s frozen shortly after harvest rather than dried and…
New Mexico’s Favorite Gummies This Week: WANA Raspberry Limeade at High Desert Relief
- Dispensaries

Gummies remain one of the most popular ways New Mexico cannabis shoppers explore edibles, and this week one product has stood out across our dispensary menus: WANA’s Raspberry Limeade gummies, a sativa-leaning 1000mg THC 20-pack that’s been a customer favorite at High Desert Relief locations from Albuquerque to Hobbs. WANA is one of the most recognized edibles brands in the country, and its Raspberry Limeade gummies are a good example of why: bright, tart flavor paired with a sativa-dominant profile that many shoppers reach for during the day. If you’re browsing our Coors, PanAm, or Alameda menus in Albuquerque, or…
